The follow-up to the worldwide hit, Avengers, has recently revealed two new players to it’s already huge cast, these are French actress Julie Delpy (Before Midnight) and Linda Cardellini (Scooby Doo).
With the film’s red carpet premiere at the end of the month, a press release that contained a list of the cast members set to attend the event, it was Delpy and Cardellini’s names that stood out as two actresses who have not previously been mentioned as part of the action flick.
Disney have confirmed that this wasn’t a simple misprint and although they refused to say who they would be portraying, the two are definitely in the movie.
This would be Indie actress Delpy’s first foray into big budget movies, with her most popular work being in Boyhood director Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy, a romantic series of films where she starred alongside Ethan Hawke. My guess is that she plays a figure from Black Widow’s past (the woman who injects her with something in the trailer perhaps?) or a member of the villainus HYDRA team.
Jenkies! We can’t forget about Linda Cardellini, who is killing it in Netflix’s latest drama series Bloodline, where she’s gaining praise from critics as the younger sister of Ben Mendelsohn and Kyle Chandler. She is also known for a regular role on ER, as Velma in the live action Scooby Doo movies and had a supporting role in Brokeback Mountain.
While the studio have yet to make their selected characters known to the public, the mysterious involvement of these fine actresses is something that has surprised the media, what with the secrecy of it all, and while it’s safe to say ther roles won’t be very big, the pair have enough critical acclaim behind them to make the assumption that we may see more of them in the suphero universe.
