Zayn Malik Leaves One Direction

Zayn-Malik-stepped-out-premiere-One-Direction-UsCan you hear that? it’s the sound of teenage girls across the world having their hearts broken at the news that the most scandalous member of One Direction has quit the group, but why?

Just last week, it was announced that Zayn would not embark on 1D’s upcoming tour due to stress from yet more cheating allegations and incriminating photos that hint at an alleged affair. The singer has been engaged to Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards since 2013.

But sadly, quitting the tour was only the first twist of the knife, as he announced that he had indeed also quit the group altogether.

In a statement on the official One Direction website, he said:

“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.”

In regards to exactly why this decision has been made now? he continued:

“I’m leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight”

Just a thought, but maybe it will be hard to be MIA when your face is plastered over every product of the high street, but I’m no expert.

It does seem coincidental however, since rumours of a Malik split have been circulating since it was announced that he would feature on Naughty Boy’s upcoming album as a rapper, then eventually pursuing a solo career.

But fear not, the group will tour and continue to release music as a four piece consisting of: Harry, Louis, Niall and Liam.

Only time will tell, but from The Cherry Pop!, hang in their Zayn fans.
