She’s done it again. The insanely talented Aussie utilises both of her exceptional talents. songwriting and singing to create the utterly perfect song “Chandelier” making a dynamic fresh debut coming off of collaborative smash hits with David Guetta and Flo Rida. Hit the jump to see the video and more of my verdict:
Sia sings her heart out during the chorus with raw vocal acrobatics that entirely encompass what the whole song is about, a party girl who is hooked on the freedom and self-medication that alcohol and partying can bring, but also suffers the damaging side-effects, “I’m gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry” she proclaims. A departure from her previous solo music, Chandelier provides a great bridge to bring her to the general audiences attention, who are severely missing out on her songs and only seem to recognise her from Titanium or Wild Ones.
The video features Dance Mom’s Maddie Ziegler, made to look like a mini-Sia, as she shows off some contemporary and unique dancing throughout a grungy, worn out apartment, entirely alone.
Chandelier isn’t much a summer song, but it’s one you’ll forever remember. A beautifully emotive track that is a perfect way to get fans excited for her upcoming album.
