Riding high from her BRIT win, being named Britain’s top female solo artist, London-born Ellie Goulding celebrated with a host British gigs all across the country and even taking the your stateside to the US. I managed to see her live at the incredible O2 arena.

Ever since her debut in 2009, Goulding has been steadily gaining fans over the years with a consistent supply of singles, and two hit albums. This all seemed to pay off when Ellie finally made it to the O2, playing in front of a jam-packed arena.
She burst onto the stage in her skimpiest leotard, complete with a decorative bindi and wild hair in a Stevie Nicks-style fashion to set the crowd alight with the dark-dub step track “Figure 8”.
Ellie made the night enjoyable for both new fans and long-term followers alike by celebrating her many catchy singles as well as her newer hits.
Whilst performing songs like “Starry Eyed” and “Goodness Gracious”, Ellie kept a flurry of energy in a strong, constant way that excited the crowd and turned up the entertainment factor. Mid-way through the gig, she turned down the atmosphere to perform a selection of her subtle and slower tracks such as an acoustic rendition of “Guns and Horses”, as well as a vocal showcase of “How Long Will I Love You” and “Explosions”, whilst finding time to sing her sentimental coveted cover of Elton John’s “Your Song” which surrendered a flurry of emotion from such an amped up crowd.
However it was back to business for the second half, when she burst into a drum solo to the incredibly catchy best of “Bad Girls” by M.I.A. that led to her biggest hits: Anything Could Happen, I Need Your Love and Lights and maintained her bubbly energy on stage, as well as sharing the sheer appreciation she has towards her fans for getting her this far in her career.
After a predictable “bye bye concert’s over…” moment, Ellie returned wearing a more comfortable short-shorts and cropped top attire to perform the song of the summer for 2013, “Burn” which everyone had been waiting for.
Overall, Ellie Goulding gave an incredible, energetic and mesmerising show that showcased her vocal talent and songwriting abilities that has cemented her as the next British pop icon. While a little more interaction with the crowd would’ve gone a long way, it didn’t distract from the fact that if you’re an Ellie Goulding fan, you’ll be able to appreciate all this tour has to offer.
